Jan grew up in the North East of England and was first introduced to photography around the age of 9, by her father, who worked part-time as a wedding photographer. Armed with an old Brownie camera and a light meter she learned the art of photography, winning a photography competition with her photograph of a fisherman in the sunset at Roker docks, Sunderland, at around 9 years of age. Jan has always had an affinity with nature, often going missing for hours on end as a young girl, much to her parents dismay, only to be found hidden by a rock pool, or by a pond catching fish and frogs, having totally lost track of time.

It was many years later that Jan rekindled her love of photography, combining it with her affinity with nature, to capture landscapes, fauna and flora, her dogs working, and her passion for fieldsports.

A keen fieldsports enthusiast and fisherwoman herself, Jan is a specialist fieldsports photographer, able to capture those elusive "action" shots. She can cover private shoots and events as well as photographing for fieldsports magazines, papers and books. Jan's son Chris, a gamekeeper by trade, has also followed in the family photography footsteps, with a particular interest in wildlife and landscape images, some of his wildlife photographs having already been published (Working Deerhound, Lurchers & Longdogs) and a small number of his landscape photographs will be featured in the gallery.
